I honestly thought I’d written everything I was going to on the Dell UP2414Q, but it would seem that it is the gift that keeps on giving. However, I’m still learning, and even now have something new to share. Continue reading

Dell UP2414Q vs P2415Q 4K Monitors – Very quick review
In a fit of optimism, and pique over my UP2414Q turning itself off a dozen times a day I bought a Dell P2415Q to either replace and/or supplement my first generation 4K monitor. On paper, the specification of the two monitors is virtually identical, but in the flesh; they are perceivably different.
Improving the Desktop Experience with 4k
In a bid to improve productivity for the complex design/build stuff that I do, I’ve been trying to integrate a Dell 24″ 4k monitor into my work environment for the past couple of months. This has been a frustrating experience; but finally, I think I’m done, and I’m done spending money.
Just to recap, my previous set up was:
- Dell E7440 with a i7-4600U Intel HD4400 Graphics & 14″ 1920*1080P screen
- Samsung 22″ 1080P TV (HDMI/DVI)
- Benq 24″ 1080P (HDMI/DVI)
Using a 4K monitor for work – First impressions
Of late, I’ve been doing an enormous amount of design and documentation work. This has left me sitting at my desk for weeks on end. I’ve had a multi-monitor setup for a while, but I found that even with 2×24″ and a 14″ 1080p screens, I still manage to run out of window space, and spend a lot of time squinting at the smaller laptop screen. This has given me grief with my neck, and to stave of permanent injury, I’ve been looking at investing in more pixels. As my 2015 Q1 schedule shows more of the same, I impulse purchased a Dell UP2414Q monitor. This is to supplement my cheap but good Benq 24″ and not cheap but necessary Samsung TV.
